Yes, that painting displayed on wikipedia is a very good one (he really is a hottie)!

I'm glad you liked the book. And I also think that Andre was bi. After all he seemed to be interested in Peggy but I could also very easily believe the historians who claim he was involved with Clinton. They would make a good picture for one of your next portraits wouldn't you say?

Maybe, but only if I got some cold hard cash. ;P I'm soooo broke now it's not even funny...

Would it be possible for me to ask you to do a commission for me of Major John Andre and General Henry Clinton? At the time I'm a little broke too, but when I get some money saved I would really love to commission you. How much would you take for a coloured drawing of the two of them together? And are there some things you would like cleared up as concerned to the composition of the picture?

It would be more than possible! :) How big would you like it, and by colored drawing, do you mean something painted, or something done with colored pencils?

Re: composition, I would rather have the two fellas in question fully clothed, given the fact that their uniforms are so spiffy.

Oh, thank you so much!

Something along the lines of the painting of Shippen and Andre. I would very much like a painting done in coloured pencils, you are just so amazing with coloured pencils.

And yes, their uniforms are very spiffy. I would very much like to see them as very good friends, but also with the possibility of them being something more, if you would be able to show that in the painting. After all, a lot of historians think that there might have been more to their relationship than just friendship. But I am all for tasteful pictures. So a lot of affection is very much appreciated!

Thank you, my dear!

I'm not really sure what you mean by "painting in colored pencils"- I don't use them often. 95% of the time I use acrylic paint. I don't really like colored pencils all that much.

Keep in mind that if you want to commission a painting from me, it's going to be somewhat more expensive than what you would find from other people on dA, given that I use paint and brushes and do everything by hand. Also, what size would you like this piece to be?

I'm so sorry! I didn't see that you use acrylic paint for your drawings. They just looked so much like coloured pencils. I'm really impressed by your way of painting with acrylic paints. May I ask how you use your brushes?

It's okay with me, even if it gets a little more expensive. Maybe you could tell me a little about the different sizes you use when painting and what the prise for them would be. Then I can tell you when to start and what size I would like. I just need to save me some money first if that's okay with you?

Well, colored pencils really look quite different- the colors are chalkier and less saturated than paints. The few times I've worked with colored pencils I get really frustrated. I use high quality sable brushes and thin down the paints a lot with water, and build up the colors to the desired richness.

As for the prices, I've been giving it some thought. If you want two costumed figures in a period setting, that's going to be more expensive than- say, a portrait with a minimal background. I can do a 6 X 8 painting for $300; if you would like the size to be 8 X 10, that would be $400. I know it sounds like a bit much, but remember I'll be custom painting everything by hand. And just think of what a deal you'll get on the exchange rate! :)
