It's just that I know people can be very particular about their characters, and if I like the character I want to do it justice. Even though I'm pretty laid back about that sort of thing myself... like you, I like to see how others interpret the character. 
I mean honestly I would only ever be picky if I were commissioning it. XD gift art should never be critiqued, at least not unless the artist is asking to be critiqued.
