Yeah, but, given your previous comment, it came off like you tend to take pleasure from other people's suffering in a schadenfreude type of way. But, that's just my interpretation. If you meant no ill will, I understand.

We kinda do enjoy the suffering of fictional characters, especially in the hope that they will overcome and escape them. At least the way I see it. Steven Universe is all about this turmoil and working through it.

I will agree with you on the show working through its turmoil. But I'm a kind of person who doesn't like to see people suffer unless they are truly immortal and irredeemable. Seeing Steven, his friends, and family go through hardships does make me long for them to get through it. Which is why I'm yearning for Lapis to come out of this hell she's in and be among friends for once.
And yet, I can't help but like to see someone like Peridot get what's coming to her. She's this insane scientist who experiments on her own people but she comes off as childish and utterly flustered with things go bad for her. She's like a cross between Starscream and Invader Zim.

Meh, I can buy Peridot theories that she's a young gem who just isn't aware of the significance of what she's doing, given she seems to have no idea how many of her weapons work. I can also buy that she's only checking on the experiments.
She's more like a new supervisor at an evil corporation - just doing her job, sick of all the stress and crap, and just doesn't give a fuck that the new models are made out of human bodies. I don't quite buy the 'Redemption' theories, but I do think we'll see some epiphanies for the wannabe supervillain.
