Thanks a lot for your explanations, it's precious ! Hug
I think we just call the minor a specialisation here but it's always a part of the major. Like if you make psychology you can then choose social psychology, school psychology, addictions,..
Can you choose a subject totally different for the minor  on your side? Like, i don't know, a major in Physics and a minor in Gardening ? x)

I remember some years ago, I was looking for artschools in the US and was struggling a lot to understand what was required and the equivalences with our school levels. It's absolutely hard to understand what the graduated/undergraduated stuff are compared to the french diploma, and internet stays pretty unclear on that matter. People don't know either lol.

And for you, again, check the european schools and market if you're not afraid of relocation. Just in France there is many smaller (compared to the big Disney etc..) or independant societies making 2D movies. Our country is REALLY fond of it. There is also this well known school : www.gobelins.fr/en/fi/animatio… (the level is really high and there are few places, most of the time you do another school before this one). My school also had a solid 2d anim course, etc.. one of my schoolmate has even relocated and worked on this movie : www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgbXWt…. It's Irish, so they've got things too. And England has some nice studios as well if my memory is good.

Yes, you can do that if you want! (Major in physics and minor in gardening xD) Actually, if someone had those degrees, that would be really cool! XD

Anyway, I don't know how the French system actually works. I have another French friend that talks to me about her schooling.. and it's a bit confusing to me : o I've tried to piece it together, but I can only get so far.. I think xD

I LOVE watching short flims from Gobelins!! Their stuff is AMAZING!!! You know, I'd be crazy enough to try and find some way to apply in the future, but I don't know if I'll have the skills to get in by then! :XD: I DO plan on getting that minor in studio art, so I hope that helps me get to where I need to go! That just leaves me with learning French.. unless there are English classes I can take.. gosh XD

Oh yes! I haven't seen Songs of the Sea yet, but I HAVE seen The Book of Kells, which, if I am not mistaken, is from the same studio. The story was simply beautiful! I can't wait to see Songs of the Sea. I've put it off for a long while, but I think it's time I got to it x)

Thank you for sharing this with me  If I may ask, what's the name of your school?

Heyyy my dear, thousand apologies for my late reply. Tons and tons of work for several month, i couldn't manage dA anymore :/

Yes ! The french system is complicated too in some ways. Well the biggest difference is that we basically don't have your "college". After high school that you leave at 18(with a "baccalauréat", i think its undergraduation in your country), you directly choose to go :
- to university, which is public and totally free, there if you study something for three years you get a "License" (mostly good for litterature things), for five years you get a "Master" (engineer, psychology etc), for eight years a "Doctorat" (doctors, physician,...).
There, I've never seen someone study two unrelated subject to get a double degree in the same time. Two reasons i think : french studies stays pretty hard and the schedule is heavy, but mostly, the administration totally suckkks !!! If you follow two courses you 'll have to be in two different places at the same moment xD.
- some short studies with stupid caps letters names, public as well, which are very specialised if you know exactly what you want to do, or dont like school. Its one or two years.
- private schools which have their own rules and years and stuff :)

My school name was École Émile Cohl in Lyon.
Oh and meanwhile my friend who worked on Songs of the Sea was accepted in the gobelins so I can send you her tumblr if you want to have something to compare to :)

French can be a barrier yes xD. But its a school known internationaly so they probably helps foreigners in one way or another. But i dont know.

Anyway, it took me so long to answer you're maybe a future lawyer, marines or bus driver now :p
I hope you are fine, i'm catching up with comments on my side and will be able to be more active again i hope :)
