I got him eating frozen thawed mice some time ago YAY. Don't have to worry about parasite transfer or him missing a meal because the store is out of the right size live mice. So much healthier for him I think and he hit a big growth spurt once he started taking frozen thawed consistently every week (order the frozen mice from the right breeder and they're nice 'n plump healthy fortified feeders compared to what you find live at a pet shop you can drive to each week). Some snake keepers only feed live rodents though because they feel it's more natural and want to allow them to exercise their instinct to hunt. I agree w/that reasoning but feel the health benefits of frozen rodents (a dead rodent can't scratch, bite, or injure your pet either) outweighs this. As an owner I feel it's my job to do what is healthiest for them and not to keep them like a wild animal. I do agree in using naturalistic setups to mimic the natural habitat or at least to have a fake setup that provides lots of things to explore so that they have stimulation. I sometimes put the frozen mice on tongs and make them look like they're running around the cage so the snake does have to chase and hunt it's food.
