I love that line down the cloak. The symmetry line. I love that, and keep focusing there for some reason. I love the boots and the knives, and the fact that you can't see the eyes.

This is going to be one of those odd drawings in terms of figuring out what's happening here. First, and most obvious, it wasn't drawn with a pre-existing story in mind. It might belong to one of them, I don't know yet, but it may very well be its own thing.
Just to give you an idea of what was going through my mind when I drew it: I was concentrating on a sense of motion, and speed. This isn't quite Superhero!V, but this is definitely *not* just an ordinary human being, either. In addition, though - and I hope I was able to express this - I think he's having.... fun?

Well I agree with what you just said about it not being Futility. I'm really curious to figure out the airplane thing, and see if that has anything at all to do with it, even if by some weird way. I'm really very curious. I mean, I remember when you did the Anniversary pic, and initially thought it was near the end of the comic (way, way at the beginning of working on it). Then you realized (and I did like your final conclusion, obviously) that it was something entirely different. The riddles to solve.
