I know this is old but, it's not free. It was simply there so that people who owned it can get a copy before the server is removed because they can't keep it up anymore. If it was free, the would have offered  the serial numbers like the did with Macromedia Flash, which they didnt. The officials even confirmed that it's not free.

That is technically correct, yet from the practical point of view, wrong.  The fact is that Adobe has made the program available to anyone and everyone who wants it by providing both the program AND the serial number that is needed to install it.  They are fully aware that those who did not buy the program are downloading it - and they are quite happy about it, as it is to their advantage.  They know that those who use it and can afford to upgrade will do so. Don't you think that a powerhouse like ADOBE could arrange it so that only those who actually bought the program could gain access to it?  C'mon.  It's free.  Plain and simple. The officials said so, in effect, which is quite clear when you take them in context with the behavior (actions speak louder than words).
