If you were basically made of all the emotions your other half kept in you'd be cranky too

Exactly!! Ah, that's awesome! I haven't been able to talk to somebody who knows about Jekyll and Hyde in a while. Thank you!

Sadly I don't know the whole book, but I have done a little research, and talked to an author on fanfiction that knows ALOT. I'm hoping someday they rewrite the book in American English so I can understand it better . But right now all the movies and books make them out to be Jekyll is an innocent perfect person and Hyde's pure evil, and that bugs me.
I like that Jackson Jekyll isn't the perfect good guy (he made a stake joke to Dracula) and Holt isn't all bad he's just got way too much energy and doesn't think things all the way thru.

I hear you, and tbh the best part of the book (in my harsh opinion) was the end of the book, when Jekyll writes a letter explaining it all.
This is because it's told from the guy that all the exciting stuff happens too, not his somewhat stalker friend Utterson.
It would've made for a much more exciting book if it was told from Jekyll and Hyde's perspective.
I was expecting it to be that way in the first place, so I guess it did leave me disappointed in the end of it.
But the book is worth reading just to see what all of the re-tellings are based on.

Jackson and Holt aren't my least favourite versions, in fact, I love the uniqueness of how they only transform if it's triggered by music. It's the sort of cool idea I wish I could've come up with. But the truth is that Jackson and Holt both annoy me from the webisodes I saw online with them. Maybe it's their voices, maybe it's the way they're lips are drawn. Honestly, I don't know why, but I find them both annoying in the official material. But I can easily imagine there being some fan comics or stories that I'd love more than the official stuff. The whole music trigger could make for some funny fan stories. But I just remember it being super irritating the last time I watched them.

Personally my favourite versions of Jekyll and Hyde are the ones where Hyde is more like an uncooperative and angry child. It usually can make for an interesting father son dynamic where Hyde acts out against Jekyll for trying to control and repress Hyde and on top of that makes Hyde deal with all his emotional issues that then become Hyde's. But Jekyll just sees the damage, and doesn't understand why Hyde does the things he does. Jekyll then tries to keep him locked away so Hyde can't kill anymore people, not seeing that it's because him that Hyde kills but instead just sees Hyde as pure evil.

I like this dynamic because in the end nobody's truly the bad guy or the evil one. They just misunderstand each other's motivations and draw conclusions that lead them to more misery and heartache.

You should definitely read the fanfictions. one I recommend is" The Misfit"
Yeah their webisode personalities can be annoying but I like the stories people come up with to give them more depth.
I've got to read the book.
