Yeah, that's how I do my people pictures too, which usually gets a better result, but these days I'm wondering if I should pose pictures more often because I have more specific ideas about what I want in the picture. It's a dilemma! 
i don't know if it is always better result... i think that it depend of pepople, of the places and many other things!!!! Because i do pose pictures too and it's also interesting... you should try, it's nice! and you said so... you can do what you want in the picture!!!!
