See The wolves paws, I have found that getting the right natural looking toes on dogs is the angle at which they are shown, depending on how the light hits them. It is very possible to get natural looking paws, if you point  the toes right at the viewer, if you get my meaning, this way the toe joints will show, I also over rotate the ankle to the front many times too... I love the colors, reminds me so much of that early morning frost on those crisp fall mornings. wonderful scene....
