Nope, I've never tried. I just started learning the basics of modeling, so I haven't tried making characters yet ^^

You can do it with Blender, but it recommended that you also use PMDeditor or PMXeditor. This site is handy for learing how to make mmd models. learnmmd.com/how-to-mmd/conten…
I haven't tried doing that either. I know I would mess it up if I tried XD
