Heh, although they are a race of their own, they do have a basis in the Finnish giant/elf mythology. 
These'd be kind of half-giant elves if there exists a standard of somekin for heights and widths. Anyhow they have much bigger bones than what you might call normal Tolkien-esque elves, and the women need to be equally sturdier to match the frames of their men.
