Thanks for sharing your love of toads (I used to catch them as a kid as well and have always been fond of them) and for all the compliments. I am just getting back into art after a long college hiatus, and backgrounds have been a bit of a struggle for me. Do you have any resources or general advice you would give on better executing them?
Honestly, I'm not so great with backgrounds either! My only advice at the moment would be to sketch the background before even thinking about touching the foreground. It's no use trying to build a world around the character. The character lands in the world.
