Comment on Saudade by TH0RNFIELD

This is almost overwhelmingly amazing. Your style reminds me of the masters, Jeremy Lipking and Casey Baugh. Words can't describe my feelings for this masterpiece.
The composition is just phenomenal and you are so sensitive to color! Just from hitting the yellow in the forehead, red in cheeks, keeping yellow ochre/blue color in the bottom area of the face, to the cool colors in the hand.

What was your message you had in mind while painting this piece? I found it fascinating how you painted the hand upturned as a gesture of openness or asking something and how this hand is the only part of the painting that is more of a warm color.

All I can say is you are so blessed and this piece is absolutely outstanding!

Thank you so much, what a compliment to be compared to them!

I had a lot going on in my mind at the time, lot conflicting emotions, and giant heap of restlessness. I wanted to give some kind of form to all those things I couldn't verbalize.
I guess you could say the hands were a kind of representation of the emotional turmoil I was in. Apathetic on the outside, but raging on the inside, before finally settling into a state that "saudade" describes.
Anyway, I hope that answers that for you, I have a hard time putting things in words in a way that is understandable for people other than myself, but I tried!

Wow, how beautiful! It's so powerful to hear how your emotions came through your painting.
Rae, thank you for taking the time to share your message behind your piece! I am just so inspired after seeing your work and it gives me hope that one day, I might be able to paint half as good as you do. :)
Thanks so much!
