Horatio makes that kind of face at Maurice too sometimes- anyone he feels affectionately toward, really (though basically that is Maurice, Jane, and Sazka, ha ha).  It's all in one's personal reaction to it what kind of reaction you have (and that reaction might be like Persy's, ha ha).
