I'd say he's more of a modern hero than anti hero, he doesn't kill and when he does do extreme things they are always for the overarching goal of the heroic pursuit, so that makes him more gray. I uploaded it into PDF because it's easier to upload big chunks that way actually, removing the word limit which in the past has vexed me, as for repetition I tried to make it all link together to try and explain it all. I guess the torture or near torture bits and your frequent references to his brutality are what made me think of him as an antihero. Of course, I think Batman is an antihero too, despite his not killing ^^
More fun to read than know just means I'd rather read about a character like him than to meet him in real life. Charming people with a controlled rage streak are a bit scary in person.

True it takes a certain group of people to be cool with someone like Jack. Also consider the targets of his brutality, rapists, killers and the like
