Hey there Quelchii! Thanks for the informative FAQ, it's always great to know an artist a bit better ;) (Wink)
My additional question to you would be: do you use a grid method, or a ruler when you draw your portraits? I'm genuinely interested in your technique and how you manage to get the proportions spot on! Clap

You're welcome and thanks! :D
That's question 1: HOW!??? I explained my method in tutorials like this one: Jack Sparrow step by step
Grid method (see step 1 + every other helpful technique like a ruler or turning the drawing upside down to find small mistakes and so on), because I'm too lazy to find an uncorrectable mistake after 20 hours and throw everything in the bin. ;) But sometimes I also do some quick sketches for a change.

Oh Wow what an idiot, I didn't click on the "Tutorials" button in your FAQ! While reading through the post my brain didn't register as it being "clickable" - I was a bit too tired last night, came back late from my shift CURSE YOU! Apologies for making you repeat like that! :o (Eek)
I too use the grid method - it enables me to get to the fun part faster :D (Big Grin)  And like you say, it's a huge frustration to realize there was a mistake in proportions or other when you're too deep into the drawing.
I should try turning the drawing upside down by the way! What I usually do to check for proportion missteps is to hold the drawing in front of a mirror. It helps a lot, especially for the face outlines (realizing a cheek is abnormally fatter than the other for ex.)

Lol! No problem! :D
That's true. I know that mirror method, too, but I'm always too lazy to find a mirror for it. ^^; The other methods work, so I don't need it.
