You know, I've always wondered what made her wait. I mean, she knew that Iron King is dead, if she merely wanted to rule or amass souls, she could find another king or lord. What made her wait specifically for him despite everything? Maybe she wanted Gwyn's great soul, or was that actual affection?
technically the iron king was not dead, rather he became some type of demon and whether he was dead or not how was she to know? also i think that perhaps nadalia grew to love him (without ever actually meeting him) during her long wait and she stayed because she knew nothing else but her desire to have what she believed to be hers, as was her nature

What do you mean, how was she to know? The guy was the king of the land she arrived at. Everyone must have spoked about Smelter Demon's rampage and destruction of the Iron Keep by then. How could she not know something like that?

the iron king didn't die he became "ichorous earth" (aka big ass lava demon) and we don't know how many people were alive during that time as some of the game locations and area like, where the undead chariot is appeared to have been under the control of the iron king and were already piling up with the undead, so for all we know most everyone might have been dead or worse by the time nadalia arrived as we don't know when she achieved conscious thought.
Ingame information is clear on this matter. Smelter killed him. He could became a demon after his death, I see no problem with that.

its as i stated, everyone was probably either undead or dead by the time she probably got there and it is possible that she simply stayed away from people or never found any as the brume tower is in a volcanic wasteland and it is also possible she simply doesn't accept that he is dead
