Well its a bit complicated, i used a Hoya R72 filter on my lens I set the camera to capture RAW files and then set the white balance to FLUORESCENT +3 then f/10 speed 30sec. And then the Image you should get should be somewhat salmon colored and then some tweaking of color balance in PP. . . Sorry, i dont think i can explain it that well, just check out gilads article [link]

Thanks for the article...I was thinking about getting an infrared filter but they can be rather expensive... does the Hoya R72 work with any digital slr? I have a canon eos 400d.

You're welcome. Yeah, IR filters can be a bit pricey but the results are very rewarding. Regarding the Hoya R72, based on my experience with the results on a Canon 400d are not as favorable as those on a Nikon D70. This is because the Canon 400d's sensor has an extra filter built into it that keeps IR light out. You can still take an IR image with it, but the exposure isn't that great. There are risky modifications available to remove the filter but i dont recommend those. If you want to test your cameras infrared ability you can try this [link]
