Those are the ones I have seen in pictures. Apparently a lot of plate armor was painted once some genius realized oil paints adhere well to metals. I suppose a lot of those pieces didn't survive, or were polished clean once the paint faded beyond aesthetic appeal.

Yeah, there are a couple of examples of painted armour in the Wallace collection. They look pretty cool. I think Victorian era historians liked shining armour so they took the paint off of them. Most were painted for intimidation and the fact the armour maybe poorly made.
