It's worth the effort but do it on a clear day if you can
the views are spectacular from the top

I'm sure they are, as evidenced. You reminded me of my first trip up to Scotland, up around An Teallach, a friend of mine hiked up the same hilll 3 times because every time he reached the top, for a photo he wanted, the clouds came in, until finally on the third trek up they cleared enough for him to get the shot he wanted :)
