Hmm, because of the emotionless face, that empty glance staring at the past. Also that strange creature hiding in the back, barely perceivable in that obscurity made of noise. Almost like if it was the viewer's perspective that had some trouble seeing the scene.
You also made it feel like those old photos people tend to have in mind when speaking about paranormal.
Maybe does that help conditioning our brain to feel like if we were seeing one of those.
