Smooze is infatuated with Asuka because she was the first lifeform it saw; her species has nothing to do with it. I imagine Smooze would like Asuka just as much if she was a different species, a male or even bigger than she is...but I never really thought about it either.
I sometimes consider having Smooze act up around other women, but I never bothered asking anyone for permission and Smooze doesn't really go out much. The only notable interaction it's had with anyone besides Asuka (female or otherwise) was Miri; Smooze got jealous of her for getting a friendly hug from Asuka and glared at her for it.
I might make Smooze interested solely in Asuka, but there is another Raichu in the group who has a much more human physique that I've been meaning to compare to Asuka. Maybe Smooze would be interested to know Raichus come in more than one shape.
