Sounds like earth, during a new ice-age or nuclear winter,  was evacuated of all humans and eventually forgotten as the years went by, perhaps sana was on a vessel that had a malfunction in cryo-stasis, leaving them the only survivor, and leaving them exposed to the ships dark-matter drives as well, only waking them long past the time they were meant to awaken.
