Thanks Erik. You are right, the accretion disk is definitely more solid than I would origionally have liked, Mitch uses Octane and so has a different material setup and I haven't been able to get the transparency working in the same way on the standard C4D renderer. Glad you like it though, and I go through phases of really liking the almost liquid look to wishing it was more transparent haha!

It looks like those typical sound waves you see in equalizers, just here there are seen in some liquid. Which is kind of cool thinking about how black holes send out gravitational waves that are similar to our regular sound waves. It doesn't seem too implausible to me that the disk looks like a liquid either.. if the particles in the disk are super dense, and from this distance, why not. :D Perhaps you could cheat a bit with some PS postwork to make it look more transparent, if you really want to.

Yeah that is a fair point, I might try a bit more postwork, although was struggling to get it to go more transparent without mucking up the glow. Might try playing around with the alpha on the c4d materials though.
