Hey Josh~ Its good to know we inkers have guys like you still in our corner. At the end of the day, its going to be the pencilers who decide the fate of inking. Its going to take a penciler to stand up to an editor and insist on inks when they have that digital crap pushed on them. And no, this isnt meant towards you. I realize that theres a time and a place to make waves and, if youre just entering the fold at Marvel, the last thing you want to do is rock the boat. Just remember this later on when theyre clamouring to work with you! :)

Yeah, Miki and Weems are phenoms'. I started out at Extreme Studios with Danny so I was able to see his insanity on a daily basis. Wish I had his energy. :)

Congrats' on the mainstream stuff! Theres definitely something extra special about working on characters we grew up on.

And thank you again VERY much for the kind words. I really appreciate it. BTW, I just saw your sons auction on EBAY for the Dave Finch piece. It really touched my heart when I read the description. My thoughts and prayers go out to you in hopes of a speedy recovery. With a kid like that you must be proud.

All the best!

Yeah I would love to be able to tell the marvel guys that I absolutely have to have an inker. I did try to get one though. I told them that ryan winn said he would ink it for free, just so we could work together again. I also suggested a few other guys I knew, but it was a no go. My editor just sent me over the colors this morning, and they turned out ok. It would have looked a helluva lot better if it were inked. I used a dark and spooky setting on the cover, and was going for a certain creepy feel. the colorist almost got it going directly over the pencils. If it had been inked it would have captured what I was going for completely. Oh well it still turned out ok. As soon as get the go ahead I'll show it to ya.
I was so touched by what my son did. I sent an email over to jim Mclauchlin because I figured he'd get a kick out of it. I have been talking with him quite a bit since the hero initiative helped me out. Next thing I know I get an email from him with a link in it. He had told newsarama about what my son did, and they wrote up a story on it. The auction went nuts then.

well sorry for going on and on again. I'll shut up now
take care
