Well spotted. I have checked on google earth and the church is not on level ground. You enter at the door of the church which is behind you in this photograph. There are old stone steps down into the crypt. It seems that the small window is just above ground level at the far end of the church. Everything below the window is under ground at that far wall. Most of the rest of the crypt is under ground. It is all, however, beneath the church.
