not really. fandom's dead, that's where I got my motivation from.
mmmmm, well you are limiting yourself since I do not depend about anything to do what I like. I mean, just look the most recent image I did, Katilda. I do not need a lot of fandom to do her. If you depends about fandom, so your chains are heavy, because I like to draw for me, not for another ones.

but with AT it's just really hard to care, and the last few seasons I've never even watched any of the episodes more than twice, most of them just once. I'm in the middle of a big rewatch right now, once I finally catch up, who knows?
Another thing about newer seasons is they've kind of fucked up a ton of things I used to like drawing.. and it's disheartening to draw a weapon or a place or a character that gets destroyed or changed.. and like, fuck, I love status quo changing, but it never changes in the way I WANT it to. Only in the way that messes up my fanarts.

But dude, thats the point about fanart, we can go against logic and plot of a series or anything. I mean, your interpretation about sword girls is awesome. Thats not canon, but you are bringing a new idea and concept that neither I expected. So, even if the series is fucked as you said and does not make changes to do a proper fanart, we can twist or manipulate the ideas. Like saying again, Katilda, she is just like a normal cat, but in my point of view, I would like to make her with such a big butt and a fish.
Why hentai exists? Because thats something we expect and we love since its a version we'll never see officially. So, why get stucked in the original concept when we can create a lot of new things. Like saying when a character dies, even dead, we still bring fanart, ecchi, even hentai, because its not what the series decides, but what we like and want.

oh i hear you, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it, just that it's a lot less fun and difficult to work up the motivation.
And honestly I've always been that way. I drew the very first on-model Flame Princess nudes, but there was a ton of art "of her" as soon as the character's name was announced, people all doing their own designs.. and I had no idea why they would want to do that. I just held off until we saw her.

Remember do it for fun. Not for competition or feeling less than other. I mean, nude about Flame Princess it was something obvious since she appeared.
