I'm not sure if I could be of much help. Clearly you already know how to paint in Photoshop far better than I do. However, Shady Safadi's "Digital-Painting" series www.youtube.com/watch?v=umpmbb…) is definitely a must watch for Photoshop newcomers. It is not a creature specific tutorial. But this whole series shares so many useful tips and tricks that makes the watch completely worth it in my opinion. The whole series is a long watch though, on average each episode lasts for around 30 minutes. So you have been warned.

Hopefully this might be useful to you :)

No problem, man! Oh, and a tip I can give you from my personal experience, is that photoshop isn't like drawing on paper. You can always erase parts, reshape them, spin them around, add photographs for texture, make 3D renders in some other software and use those as a base for your sketch, whatever, you can't break any rule if there aren't any rules to begin with. So try to be flexible and don't get too stuck on the mindset that you are painting on a digital sheet of paper.

I think that's all the advice I can give that isn't excruciatingly specific ;P
