I think Byron's story was a legit idea, but it could have been handled better.
He was so utterly boring...
That's what I mean. If they'd handled it better- spent more time on the story- they might've been able to make him more interesting. In a way, he was like Wesley on ST:NG. The writers didn't seem to know how to handle him.
I just wished they had killed him off earlier and spend more time on other things. Every time he was a major plot point in an episode i was just like "oh not him again" And when he died i was like "oh thank god". 
That's what I mean. If they'd spent more time developing the story, Byron might've turned out as a totally different kind of character.
