Yeah, that did bug me a lot about Rogue One.  Leia hoped they find a weakness and Luke used the Force to make the impossible shot (and this is coming from someone who LOVES Rogues One).  At least the robot was fun and that Jet Lee had an amazing send off.

It was a fun movie. Completely un necessary... but a great battle sequence.
Lordy, the final 40 minutes was EVERYTHING I ever wanted in a Star Wars movie!  The last act of R1 had more heart and soul then everything in the Prequels put together!

Okay... crispy Anakin asking where Padme was to Palpatine did tug on my heart strings but besides that.

I don't agree with Leia's ship being at the battle of Skariff... but the rest was ok. The Vader scene was a bit too much fan wanking
Oh god, Leia's ship being there made the scene in Ep4 where she told Vader she was just on "diplomatic mission" made me roll my eyes.  Vader is like :"DON'T PLAY ME!  YOU ARE ON THE SMOKING GUN!"

They really should pay attention to dialogue if they are going to bridge movies and scenes
Hopefully the Han Solo prequel movie will be more thought out.  On paper, I can't see too many ways for them to screw it up: Solo and Chewie get in over their head but manage to pull a fast one, get the money and a sweet ship and seem to be set on easy street before Jabba screws them over.  Get a good director with a solid cast of actors and a producer who cares and it should turn out alright.  We'll see.

I'm going to bet that Star Wars gets worse and worse. Eps 8s trailer didn't excite me
