Here's hoping they release a subtitled version as well as being affordable. Managed to find a DVD copy of 2199 complete for under $30 once, and was absolutely worth it. The PS4 version of Super Robot Wars V also has the 2199 story as a major part of the plot, pretty much the big parts all the way through.
I have 2199 and the follow up OVA movie...but still waiting on 2202.

The most recent game in the series is, yep. The Yamato is your main ship for the first several missions, then returns much later on and pretty much leads the fleet until the end. Most of the major plot points from 2199 show up in the story, though some make more sense if you've watched the series, of course.
