For my photos in the dark, I use a powerful lamp, it's really important.
Here's my camera settings:
Shutter Speed: 1/50
Aperture: F/9
ISO Speed: 400

Yes indeed, it is very very hard, specially in certain situation! I'm glad you know that because indeed, people don't specially know how hard it is sometimes!
