Update: I do believe I've officially confirmed that my brain is beyond Derp with this little ghost.
I want to progress everything, but I feel guilty leaving him on my screen for extended periods of time because he complains about work, and I worry about annoying him from petting him too much.

When you pet him enough it starts to seem like he likes it. Well, definitely when he's asleep. You don't really have to worry about petting him too much.
Yeah, I try to focus it on when he's asleep.
