That's what Net Neutrality does tho, it allows an executive branch agency to set the standards on the internet- that's Trump

but that's not happening now. Verizon still throttles speeds and content is still getting banned or shadow banned all over the place.

its what we have now-

fcc wants to take that away from usa and censor and control what the people see. its a dictatorship style of control they want to implement

just the opposite, actually. With NN, the government tells us what we get and what we pay. Now with it repealed, the market can decide. It will be good for us. Things will be cheaper and we will only pay for what we use.

no? nononono???? no????? other countries who operate under this have said it's a terrible idea - i dont know where you get your news from but literally everything everywhere says this is bad

everything coming out of the internet companies who stand to lose, and their allies in the press. Also, remember, this is Trump changing something Obama did, so "obviously" it's bad.

On the price side:

Verizon is spending hundreds of millions of dollars to upgrade the infrastructure necessary to carry web traffic generated by companies like YouTube and Netflix. Those big companies- the media companies who are part of the same big corporations as the media - they are getting a free ride.  Who pays for all that fiber optics? You and me! So NN makes things more expensive for us and gives that extra money to Google and Netflix and Amazon or whoever.

On the content side:

Companies like Facebook, Google, Microsoft; they act as gatekeepers for information. They can tamper with search results or even revoke ISPs entirely. That's censorship and it is happening now.

So on both counts, NN has failed us and it's time to look into other solutions.

One solution, the pricing solution, is to have people pay for the internet they use. That means big companies pay lots, and we don't pay as much, since we're not paying for the big companies anymore. It will be good.

On the topic of censorship, I'm really not sure what to do other than bust up big companies and then have the FCC do serious oversight - which they don't do now - based on laws, not regulations.
