Yes I think you definitely should take it as a compliment . They do draw you in Ken, it wasn't a quick look thing I like them. " Thankfully hardly anyone showed up ," now you sound like me. I don't enjoy doing that opening thing . I don't mind having the work there but hate having to be there.
I was in a cafe the other morning waiting on my tea, talking to the baristas. I said something about being a grumpy old man. Both of them -- very young women -- laughed and got animated and said, "We feel like grumpy old men all the time." It was endearing.
