Thank you. I grew up on her 80s "silver" costume, so I based it off that, but updated it somewhat. 
I generally can't stand the "practically nothing" rule of female battle dress either.
Fortunately the X-Men artists think similarly, as Storm usually at least has a pair of pants on nowadays, even if she's in some little halter top for that scene. Emma Frost can turn herself into diamond, so she's about the only exception to the rule, and even there she wears some decent clothing, however sexy it is.
