It seems to be the typical anime way of "evil" winged humanoids have their wings lower on the back, than say the typical shoulder blades on an angel.
Ahhh... Okay. Yup. Not something I'd ever noticed. Anime is riddled with symbolism of this sort. Shape of eye, the single tooth, the single tear-drop, the nosebleed, rubbing the back of the head ... so so many.
