Of COURSE they Neku and Shiki resemble Sora and Kairi. It's the guy's style. That's just how he likes his characters. I like it better that way, actually. It's something familliar. The whole game is so new and unknown that it's nice to see something that you've seen before. And once you start playing the game, you completely forget about Sora and Kairi and how much they look like Neku and Shiki.
Besides, Neku's personality is the polar opposite of Sora's. So they're DEFINITELY not the same character.
