for me it's the best way to begin, you get the real black contrast that you can't achieve with graphite, then you use it to make the shadows of the charcoal a bit softer, and finally i use the ink for the details

oh yes, it's impossible, so frustrating you know? it would be perfect if we could, but it looks nice in layers too
