They sunk the library an additional floor to accommodate for future volumes going into it for the next 100 years or so. I also have a reference card with my name on it in the Library

How do you sink a library? Wouldn't it be swallowed up by the earth if it sunk? How long has there been quick sand in Ottawa? Why is this reminding me of "The Planet of the Apes"? 
it was solid rock they dug into. They redid the ceiling. It's gorgeous.
