It's 3 pieces of leather that are laced together with kangaroo lace . I used velcro under the flap to close it on the mid section and snap on the top.

That's pretty damn cool. I'll probably try it sometime in the holidays, but I doubt I'd ever be able to get up to the level of work you do. :L
