I would argue it depends entirely on the circumstances.

If it's a job that you really and truly enjoy but it has a lower pay grade then to many it doesn't really matter.
Being able to do what you love for a job is something that many people wish they could do and being able to do that for a slightly lower pay for many people is fine compared to doing a job you dislike for a much higher pay.

At the same time if it's something which traditionally has a higher pay than what you are getting and they offer you a lower amount of cash then it might be different.  Due to the lower amount you might ask for something in return or for a certain amount leeway or what have you, if not that then you can probably cut corners.
