Well, I have to say, that was enjoyable going through your gallery!!!  You are a very talented artist, we share a lot of the same interested I think, although I seem to be the only person on earth that doesn't watch Doctor Who!!!!  lol  I read about what you do, your charity work, and think  that is such a wonderful thing to offer!!!  Not just the essentials but another kind of essential, creativity, self esteem, a sense of worth.  If there is any way I can help, it would be a pleasure!!!  How are funded? Private donations?  I am not rich by any means, I struggle like so many others but would feel honored to help in sending either money or supplies or whatever you may need.  Please not me!

Anawim Studio is funded by me (most the supplies and equipment are from my former basement studio), and by supporters. Tax-decutable donations to the studio go through Anawim Christian Community, which is under the NW Mennonite Conference. You can specify that your donation is for "Anawim Studio" on the check or noted on an electronic transfer through PayPal. Thank you for offering to support us, it means a lot!

I do have Netflix, it's just finding the time and energy!!!  I take care of my 87 yr old Mom with dementia and also homeschool my 13 yr old son who has many disorders such as Tourette's, Autism, ADHD, Dyspraxia, mood disorder, OCD and a few more. he is a blessing to me, and a wonderful boy with many problems!!! So I'm tired early and we maybe watch 1 show a night and sometimes not even that.

Oh gosh! That is a lot to take care of! I don't know if your son likes to watch TV, but he might really like Doctor Who ;) But I know that sometimes kids with Autism spectrum can be sensitive to certain kinds of shows/movies/books. My pastor's daughter has high-functioning Asberger's (on the autism spectrum, plus OCD, anxiety disorder, etc.) and she is sensitive to violence, evil people/creatures, or even suspenseful situations, not only in movies and TV,  but also in books. Doctor Who is suspenseful, moderately scary, and does include violence like things blowing up, or violent aliens.

yes he used to be more like that but I've noticed he can handle things like that better now. he is a very literal kid, what you say, he takes face value.  So he has a hard time with humor, sarcasm, empathy etc.  I think I struggle with the empathy the most.  it's like a two edged sword, at times I think he has mastered the concept of  empathy, but then other times he tries to feel what I' explained to him but it's just not there, through no fault of his own.  It frightens me quite a bit about the future for him, He can't take care of a lot of daily tasks he needs to survive in the world.  I am lucky that he will be able to receive VA benefits through his father and social security if that's around at the time.  but it's being alone.  I have a financial plan thru the bank but to have someone with him when I die, worries me.  And being older doesn't help.  It's not that I don't have people, it's that I need someone HE can live with!!  Sorry for rattling on this way! :)  I think we will have to see what this Doctor Who is all about, lots of people here on DA love it too!!

Often times the State drops the ball with regard to keeping children safe and caring for those who cannot do it for themselves (SSI, group homes, medicaid, etc.). But all we can do is trust that God will look after our loved ones once we're gone, using whatever people and services are needed to that end. What else can we do?

I wrote a note with your print (which winged it's way out the door today) with a suggestion for where to start with Doctor Who ;)

Your right about the trust in God, I do try my best to put all my problems, etc in His hands, but being human, it's hard sometimes!!!  Thanks about the Dr. Who help, I don't have a clue where to jump in!!
