I wish I can help you, but as a contributor I can only accept or reject submissions, and I couldn't find any option to delete the image that has been accepted.
Go to gallery,
Find image,
Hover over Image,
Little Icon Appears showing a pencil,
Click Icon,
Option > Remove From This Folder
That should remove the item from the group and folder in one quick swoop. [As long as you have not got it uploaded into 3 different group folders but thats very unlikely]

I've tried that one, but there's no little pencil icon appeared. I guess being contributor in this group doesn't allow me to delete other submissions...
