Yup, it's completely true, same as giving yourself a small break between "finishing the piece" and actually submitting it's final version.
Maybe the vision, just like the smell, adjusts to what the senses register (never heard of this, but who knows). I use the flipping canvas already, although I was too lazy yet to save a key shortcut - I'll definitely do it after reading your tips
