Youre expected to know how to draw, in fact, to even be considered you have to submit a portfolio of art to be accepted. If you're good enough, youll go for an interview and only then will you be accepted. As for what we do, we do life drawing/anatomy class twice a week, and the lectures teach us how to use programs like toonboom (2D animation) and maya (3D animation). Last year our first big project was stop motion animatiom, our second big project was to create a room environment in 3D, texture it, light it 3 different ways and then render that out (so it wasn't 3D animation, just making a "set" in 3D and rendering out stills). Our 3rd big project was 3D animation, but only with an object (we were given an object and we had to make a 30 second 3D advert) and our last project was 2D animation and lip syncing. :'>
