Thankyou my dear for the fav on my latest pic of darling Fayt. I hope you're well, and that life isn't treating you badly! Let's talk again soon. :)

Hellooo~ Hope you're well too! Life's finally calmed down for me after resigning from volunteering at an anime convention (crazy hectic times), so I've been able to get more chill time in, mostly for gaming. :giggle: Still having trouble fitting art time in but I've moved cubicles in my work office so I have this nice desk space where I'll eventually turn into an art area. :plotting:
Talk to you again soon! :D

Nice to hear from you, and glad life is settling down! Anime convention eh? That does sound hectic. :o

I wish I could use my work desk for fun things! I'm still trying to figure out how to take a nap without anyone noticing lol.

Catch you around, let me know how you go with your games - I'm living vicariously through you haha!

Haha, I tend to nap at lunch now that it's getting close to winter and my office is so cold that I may as well be outside. :shakefist: No one seems to mind as long as I'm working when I should be.

On the games side, I've been playing Tales of Zestiria (Tales series and Star Ocean were developed by the same team way back in the SNES era). It's got similar elements like a real-time battle system, same music composer, quirky characters... Fun stuff~ :D

I may get a PS4 eventually and check out SO5. Seems like SO3 was the peak of the series though. SO4 had a cool battle system but man did the final boss take forever to beat! It wasn't even that hard, just had ridiculous amount of HP. Story was kinda weird but I liked some of the characters. SO5 didn't seem to have great reviews unfortunately mostly cuz it didn't really innovate on anything. Blue-haired hero with his pink girl friend save the universe. But who knows, maybe I can fish some form of enjoyment out of it.

Anyway, how's life on your side?

Whoa, 6 months late replying! That's a pretty sucky record on my part, zomg. O__o I think I'm getting worse as I get older LOL. Well, in the time that's passed it's nearly winter down here, and what I wouldn't give to catch some zzz's at the office these days! Did you finish your games? I finally got a PS4 w00t w00t! I was playing The Last Guardian for a bit, but I've gone on temporary hiatus coz that big dog thing really doesn't like listening to me. Grump Waiting around for SO5 to come down to a reasonable price and then I might give it a go, though I'm with you and kinda wondering if it'll be worth the ride! Haha blue haired hero and pink girl, where on earth have I heard that before?! But I guess it's just a Star Ocean thing, they switch between blonde and blue haired protagonists.

On a separate note though.... SO3 HD is coming WHOOAAAA :la: :la: :la:

6 months is better than 6 years though! :XD: I was wondering if you'd fallen off the planet again, haha. Up here is one of my least favourite times of the year. The weather doesn't know how to ease into the seasons, so we just get blasts of heat and cold until it realizes it should be summer. ^^; I kinda stopped in the middle of my games after jumping at a sale for the PS4 and grabbed SO5.

It was like playing something that was trying to be SO but didn't quite get there which was really sad. The original producer/director of the game wasn't on the team anymore so that might explain it. Probably best to skip especially if you get motion sick. Its abysmal camera feels like there's a selfie stick stuck in the dude's butt, so every bump in the ground bumps the camera. So awful. Stairs are the worst. :faint:

But beating things up is still fun as usual, and the whole party's fighting in battle this time seamlessly on the field. Probably the best thing is that you can mute the annoying pink girl's voice. :lmao: Everything else is pretty forgettable. Except Victor, the typical serious knight but also a dork who fights like Albel and Nel. And Anne who's essentially a super powered Cliff/Mirage if you equip Berserker. Nothing's more satisfying wailing on everything with Hammer of Might and Aerial Assault. :mwahaha:

The game is supposed to be reminiscent of SO3 so you might as well just replay that in HD instead and save yourself a few bucks and headaches. Kinda wanna play it again myself now that it's out wheeee~ :D Hope you've been well and have fun with the rest of The Last Guardian!

Yeeaahhhh I have a shocking habit of getting distracted by other things, like re-reading manga series or giving in to just being a lazy slug, but then the motivation kicks in and I wind up making my way back here. ^__^;; My home town has 4 true seasons and it's right on the money this year, so far no insane weather events and let's keep it that way!!

OMG I snorted out loud at that description, I just got wild visuals of a stiff ass swinging to and fro.  Now that's truly disappointing, especially since SO5 was so obviously trying to pay homage to SO3! I do still feel aflutter when I see Fidel since he's such a dead ringer for Fayt, maybe that will be the saving grace for me? Was the story coherent at least? And please don't tell me there was any stereotypical kissing-childhood-friend-under-the-moon scenarios, like Legend of Dragoon. >__< (Seriously, these people had to wait until they started rpg'ing before hooking up???) Stare

Ya know, I visited the Playstation store coz SO3 is now out in the UK, and I was able to add it to my cart!! BUT I might hold off, weird as that may sound. I feel like a promo code could make this sweeter, lol. XD And I don't think I can afford to get distracted at the moment or I'll drop off the planet again. O__o I must introduce SO3 to my husband though, he's so bewildered by my fangirling and convinced I'm drawing girls, not guys ha!

Ah I know that feel all too well. I've been getting into the habit of doodling weekly lately, even if it's just a scribble on some scrap paper, to keep my artistic side in shape. It makes it much easier to get into bigger projects that take 30+ hours. I find that having someone to draw for amps up the motivation by a lot. :XD: If you're feeling artistically unmotivated, maybe that's a thing you can try?

Yeah, Fidel is basically a watered down Fayt clone lol. The main difference is Fayt was blessed with Albel a colourful cast of characters and dialogue. Funny how his sword style manages to traverse time and space though... And unfortunately yes, super stereotypical main guy-girl romancing sequence is there. D: I think all SOs has a moment like that, like right before the last third or quarter of the game before fully committing to beating up the big baddie. But SO5's seemed especially forced because we don't really see the two bond romantically during the game all that much. They're very close because of their childhood bff pseudo bro-sis thing going on but then, opportune moment before heading into space, the girl's just like "Let's be romance!" and Fidel's just "Uh, sure!" Meanwhile I'm just ಠ_ಠ ??????? It just makes you wanna kidnap Fidel and put him in a better game. And Victor. Please save him too. *cough*

Story-wise, I would say it's pretty coherent, but only because not a whole lot is going on. I've been chasing after this magical time controlling girl for all but the entire game and I STILL don't know what the heck the baddies wanna do with her. They just want her powers for.... something bad. Maybe I should reread the synopsis. ^^; Meanwhile we're also in this nations war that I didn't pay attention to the explanation for. Now that shit's fun because you get to fight along side random NPC guys and it really feels like a war. Or as close as to one you can get. And of course, Mr. Screw-The-Space-Rules-Kenny from Earth spares no hesitation in breaking all the rules by helping out our party! :lmao:

Oh, I forgot to mention that you can walk around and do emotes during most cutscenes so it's almost impossible to take anything seriously. It's like the developers realized they couldn't bring out the full potential of this game and threw that in as like a "Sorry, we know this game can be a bit of a slog. But let's just have as much fun as we can."

:giggle: Yessss your husband must know of the awesomeness that is Fayt x Albel. :XD: I'll keep an eye out for discounts and let you know. Prooobably should finish SO5 before I dive into another game and forget about it so I'm better off waiting too... >.>;;
