Ah I know that feel all too well. I've been getting into the habit of doodling weekly lately, even if it's just a scribble on some scrap paper, to keep my artistic side in shape. It makes it much easier to get into bigger projects that take 30+ hours. I find that having someone to draw for amps up the motivation by a lot.
If you're feeling artistically unmotivated, maybe that's a thing you can try?
Yeah, Fidel is basically a watered down Fayt clone lol. The main difference is Fayt was blessed with
Albel a colourful cast of characters and dialogue. Funny how his sword style manages to traverse time and space though...
And unfortunately yes, super stereotypical main guy-girl romancing sequence is there. D: I think all SOs has a moment like that, like right before the last third or quarter of the game before fully committing to beating up the big baddie. But SO5's seemed especially forced because we don't really see the two bond romantically during the game all that much. They're very close because of their childhood bff pseudo bro-sis thing going on but then, opportune moment before heading into space, the girl's just like "Let's be romance!" and Fidel's just "Uh, sure!" Meanwhile I'm just ಠ_ಠ ??????? It just makes you wanna kidnap Fidel and put him in a better game.
And Victor. Please save him too. *cough*Story-wise, I would say it's pretty coherent, but only because not a whole lot is going on. I've been chasing after this magical time controlling girl for all but the entire game and I STILL don't know what the heck the baddies wanna do with her. They just want her powers for.... something bad. Maybe I should reread the synopsis.
Meanwhile we're also in this nations war that I didn't pay attention to the explanation for. Now that shit's fun because you get to fight along side random NPC guys and it really feels like a war. Or as close as to one you can get. And of course, Mr. Screw-The-Space-Rules-Kenny from Earth spares no hesitation in breaking all the rules by helping out our party!
Oh, I forgot to mention that you can walk around and do emotes during most cutscenes so it's almost impossible to take anything seriously. It's like the developers realized they couldn't bring out the full potential of this game and threw that in as like a "Sorry, we know this game can be a bit of a slog. But let's just have as much fun as we can."
Yessss your husband must know of the awesomeness that is Fayt x Albel.
I'll keep an eye out for discounts and let you know. Prooobably should finish SO5 before I dive into another game and forget about it so I'm better off waiting too... >.>;;
