Got an interesting idea.
Would it be possible to modernised the Yubari into some sort of anti aircraft cruiser, replacing the original 140mm guns with 127mm or 120mm DP guns found as secondaries on IJN Cruisers? Also, is it possible to replacing the two twin torpedo mounts with a single quad mount or would that be too heavy for the ship?

I can see something like a Tenryu CLAA conversion (Like proposed) 4 twin 12,7cm or 76mm, 10cm might be possible but that requires barbettes.
I would say a single triple torpedo launcher with te extra space allocated for the usual 25mm guns
Yeah the 100mm guns I could see replacing the twin turrets but for the single mounts that might be a bit more difficult. Most likely just use single mounts unlesss they want to really regut the ship.
And fair point, with her new role as an AA cruiser, sacrificing a torpedo tube for more AA is appropriate and unlikely to cause too many issues compare to a quad mount..
And I don't know, but maybe they would also rebuilt the superstructure to be something more like the IJN destroyers of the time. Like getting rid of that room on top of a small mast structure for example.
