I'm glad that you enjoyed it
I realize that, for me, it's a little tough to keep Akutabe and Sakuma in characters sometimes because they have such different facets in their personality. Sakuma can be sweet and then she can be selfish, and, of course her personality is changing throughout the manga. I've also seen Akutabe's personality shift, especially in the manga, from calm and collected, to cruel, and then scumbag. I'm currently trying to write another YYA story, and it's been a little interesting to write for those reasons.
Ah, I knew they lived together, but I thought that I had read it as though it was Sakuma's place and her mother lived with her. Maybe I got it lost in translation. My Japanese is decent, but I still have a long way to go, haha. But isn't it strange how her mom looks like...I dunno, 14? It's the same thing with the curse, too. Akutabe screws with Sakuma so much throughout the 10th volume that it got a little confusing to figure when he was lying to her and when he was telling the truth, though the curse seems legit, he has his own double-dealings too. Of course, now the curse seems to ruin any chance of AkuSaku, huh? Lol, I hope not. Although, while I was scouring the Japanese forums, a topic of debate seems to be Sakuma's dad (who I think she's looking for now, but I only got to read through #131, #132, and #133 of Evening, so it's a little convoluted), and people are speculating that it's Akutabe. I sure hope not, but that would be just like Kubo to screw with fans.
I did notice that those scenes weren't animated too! It also irritated me that Sakuma's debt and Akutabe going to Koutarou's grandfather's funeral is never mentioned/animated. Those are parts of the manga that actually bring out something for the plot and unique for the characters and not having it changes the dynamic entirely.
Wow, I never knew that about Kamiya-san. He does such excellent roles and I love seeing him doing the cosplay skits. I do wish that they'd bring the series back, but I am looking forward to Azazel-G next month.
